Clifford L. Walter, 87, longtime resident of Pitcher Hill, passed away Sunday at Central Park Nursing Home in Syracuse. A native of Syracuse, he resided on Crestwood Drive in North Syracuse since 1952. Clifford was the youngest of four children born to the late Fred and Amelia Ziure Walter.
Clifford was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea and the Philippines. He retired in 1987 after 39 years as a service and delivery man for Suburban Propane in Phoenix, NY. Clifford was a member of the New York State American Legion and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout the Southern tier of New York State.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, the former Carolyn Bailey, in 2008. All services were private.
