Walter W. Loerzel, 74, of Siler City, NC, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was the son of the late Anton Loerzel and Evelyn Mason and attended St. Margaret’s School in Mattydale. Walter grew up on Matty Ave. in Mattydale and resided in Central Square for 20 years before relocating to Siler City, NC in 2006.
Walter was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Walter raised horses in his family home and trained them to barrel race. His pride and joy was an Arabian named “Timmy.” Walter worked doing construction for his whole career and had a passion for fine woodworking. He owned and operated his own business out of Central Square and later in Siler City. In retirement, Walter also worked for J.H. Harris Realty and Auctions in Siler City doing staging and repairs. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1832 in Mattydale and an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling especially at Long Lake in the Adirondacks.
Walter was predeceased by five siblings, Betty, Richard, Joyce, Leta, and Carl Sr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Jacquelyn (Allman) Loerzel; their two children, Christopher (Ruby) Loerzel of Siler City, NC, and Kiersten Loerzel of Syracuse; a brother, Thomas Loerzel of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 2, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale, with a Funeral Service following at 7:00 pm. Burial will be Friday, 10:00 am, in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
