Shirley Manley Whitehead, 88, formerly of 204 North Plymouth Ave, died Friday at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born and raised in Nedrow, she had resided on Beecher Street for many years before moving to Mattydale where she resided for 20 years. Shirley was the daughter of the late Lee and Mable Manley.
She graduated from Vocational High School and retired in 1985 after over 30 years working in the foundry office at Crouse Hinds. Shirley was a member of the Crouse-Hinds Seniors and their Quarter Century Club, the Salina Seniors in Liverpool, and bowled for several years on a mixed senior league. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, James Whitehead, Jr. in 2002.
Surviving are her daughter: Shirley Richard Marsh of Syracuse; four grandchildren: Michael Pam Marsh of Chittenango, Brian Tracy Eddy Marsh of Canastota, Jeffrey Angela Marsh of Fayetteville, and Jennifer Marsh of FL; eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9:00-10:00am Monday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer will begin at 10:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church at 10:30am. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Syracuse.
