Virginia L. Baker Whitehead, 84, formerly of 114 Medford Road in Mattydale, passed away Wednesday at Rosewood Heights Nursing Home. Virginia was a native of Syracuse and resided in Mattydale for 50 years prior to moving to Rosewood Heights. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Kathleen Baker.
Virginia worked as an assembler at Crouse Hinds and was a former member of MVFD Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3146 in Mattydale and the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Norman T. Whitehead in 2000 and her great grandson, Nathan R. Bigness in 2008.
Surviving are her daughter: Kathleen John Farr of Weedsport; two sons: James N. Lee of Mattydale/Surprise, AZ and Richard T. of Mattydale; nine grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-4pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Services will be Monday, 9:30am at the funeral home followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
