Nina Winokurowa

Nina Winokurowa, 86, of Syracuse, died Monday at Loretto Cunningham. Nina was a native of the Ukraine who escaped the wrath of World War II while working as a slave laborer under the German Occupation. She emigrated to the America in 1948 and became a naturalized citizen. Nina resided at 171 Briggs Street for many years prior to moving to Heritage House and then to Loretto.
She retired in 1985 after 30 years of service as a supervisor at Syracuse China Corporation in Syracuse.
Nina is survived by her life long friend whom she came to the United States with, Maria Rea and her family.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be no calling hours.
