H. ?Larry? Wright, 93, of Pitcher Lane, North Syracuse, died Monday at Francis House in Syracuse. He was the son of Charles Wright and Elizabeth Scharmach. A native of Syracuse, John resided in the North Syracuse area for more than 60 years.
John served as a captain for the US Army in Europe during World War II and participated in the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach. He worked at General Motors in Syracuse for 40 years as a general foreman before retiring. He was a member of the Liverpool YMCA and was a competitive swimmer into his 90?s. He was a very active member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse where he served as an usher, member of the church council and always pitched in with light maintenance.
John is survived by his wife of 61years, Beatrice Thompson, two daughters, Judith David Fabio, of Amherst NY, Nancy J. Wright, of Liverpool, and a grandson, Brian Fabio, of Fairfax, VA.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services are Thursday at 10:00 am in Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse.
