Vivian Zawadzki, 98, longtime resident of Mattydale, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Iroquois Nursing Home. A native of Syracuse, Vivian was one of nine children born to the late Roman and Monika Kopaczewski. She was a graduate of Solvay High School and resided on McKenny Ave for 55 years.
Vivian retired in 1976 after 10 years as a bookkeeper with the New York State Fair. She was a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Seniors Group and Pastimes Athletic Club. Vivian was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, a member of its Altar Rosary Society and a volunteer at their Bingo nights. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who was deeply loved by all of her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Adam Zawadzki, in 1987.
Vivian is survived by her three children: Joyce (Ronald) Gibbs of Binghamton, John (Saskia) Zawadzki of Manlius, and David (Colleen) Zawadzki of Tully; a loving sister: Irene DeBello of Bonita, CA; eight granddaughters: Wendi Strangis, Alissa Strojny, Stacey Garzo, Andrea Cuddy, Renee McVige, Amanda Dunlap, Nikki Dovi, and Lily Zawadzki; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including Kathy Kopaczewski, Monica Trueblood, and Joan Trepa who were very special to her.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 - 11 am at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a Prayer Service beginning at 11 am. An 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
